We have received inquiries from various clients on how to deal with the upcoming privacy legislation for their webshop or B2B portal. This legislation comes into effect on May 25, 2018, and affects every webshop. Essentially, there are 2 main points for a webshop: Cookie notification (+ explanation of cookie policy) and ‘Right to be forgotten’. For the two most important points, we have created a GDPR package in the form of a Magento 1 & 2 extension.[intro_end]
Cookie Notification
In the new legislation, you as a webshop owner are required to provide a cookie notification with different types of cookies. In our extension, we differentiate between functional, analytical, marketing, and social media cookies, and a customer can specify their preferences per type of cookie. Cookies will not be placed until a choice has been made.
Right to be Forgotten
Our extension also allows customers to delete their account. The customer can do this themselves by logging into ‘my account’, or a user can delete the customer through the Magento admin. When the customer is deleted, all matching orders will be anonymized. Costs
The cost for this unique Magento GDPR extension for purchase and installation is a one-time fee of € 350,-. Additionally, approximately 2 to 4 hours of custom configuration is needed per webshop to implement various template adjustments. Larger webshops will require closer to 4 hours, and smaller shops will need around 2 hours. Any graphic adjustments are excluded.
