Adobe has released Magento 2.4.7, a solid update to the previous version 2.4.6 from March 2023. With support until April 2027, this release focuses on stability, optimizations, and bug fixes – exactly what you expect from a reliable e-commerce platform.
This version includes around 150 improvements and important security patches, and offers some notable optimizations in GraphQL. As a result, GraphQL requests run significantly faster. Additionally, Magento's technology stack has received an update, officially supporting PHP 8.3 and Composer 2.6. On the new features side, things are quiet, meaning the focus is really on enhancing and strengthening the platform.
Security Patches
In addition to version 2.4.7, security patches have also been released for earlier versions, including 2.4.6-p5, 2.4.5-p7, and 2.4.4-p8. These address various security vulnerabilities, ensuring that earlier Magento versions also have a more secure foundation.

Update or wait a bit longer?
Now the question: should you update to Magento 2.4.7 right away? We recommend waiting until the first patch version (2.4.7-p1) is released in the next quarter. Stability and security are paramount, and while Adobe is currently releasing beta versions to better test new versions, it can often be wise to wait for the initial teething troubles to be resolved. Regarding security patches, we do advise implementing these quickly so that your shop is better protected.
Are you currently using a Magento version lower than 2.4.3? Then it's really time to consider upgrading to a recent version.
What does the future hold?
For larger new features, we'll have to wait a bit longer for Magento 2.5. Until then, Magento 2.4 is becoming increasingly robust, and with support until April 2027, the latest version offers long-term certainty for us and our customers.
