What is going on?
Last Tuesday (August 4) a new security patch was released by Magento: SUPEE-6482. The new security patch addresses a total of four security issues: two for Community Edition and two additional issues for Enterprise Edition.
At the same time, a new release was launched that includes the patch: Community 1.9.2.1. For Enterprise users, the new release 1.14.2.1 and an extended version of the security patch will be released today (August 6).
Advice 1: Update the Magento installation to the latest release 1.9.2.1. You will then no longer need to patch separately. Keep in mind, this is often not something that can be done 'just like that'. A small investigation is required to determine what the potential risks might be.
Advice 2: If you do not want to update, then you must patch. This is important to keep your webshop and customer data safe.
Another patch?
The patches that have been released recently are SUPEE-5344 (Shoplift), SUPEE-5994, SUPEE-6285, and now SUPEE-6482. The latest patch SUPEE-6482 is the fourth patch in a short time. It is important to know that the patches do not replace or render each other unnecessary. All four patches must be installed to keep your shop safe.
